Pills to stop your period

The good news is that there are pills that can be safely used to temporarily stop menstruation. There are two ways to do this. You can use a delayed menstrual pill called norethisterone or take two packs of combined pills in a row. These methods do not guarantee a delay in your period, but they have a high success rate in controlling your menstrual cycle. How well they work in the delay period depends on the woman.

There may not be any guaranteed method to delay a period, the woman person will have to choose from the following several hormonal contraceptives:

  • Norethindrone- a type of progesterone
  • Combined oral contraceptive pill containing Estrogen and Progestin- a type of progesterone
